Dolgellau town is less than a 10 minute walk from Llety Heulog. There is a fantastic selection of pubs, cafe's, restaurants as well as independent shops. It is also the start of the Mawddach Trail.
Barmouth is a quick 20 minute drive along the Mawddach Estuary. It has a vast beach that has sections which are dog friendly all year round and also a dog free area in summer. There are amusements, boat trips and a seasonal ferry to Fairbourne.
The Mawddach Trail starts close to Llety Heulog. It is one of the most scenic railway paths in the country, running along the spectacular and atmospheric Mawddach Estuary below the foothills of Cadair Idris. It is almost 9 miles long- perfect for a long return ride or you could get the bus back from Barmouth. It's also mainly flat so great to take out kids, go for a gentle walk or run.
Harlech is a very attractive coastal town that boasts award winning beaches, many interesting shops and a vibrant arts and crafts scene but it is chiefly known for its castle. Harlech Castle is the towering medieval fortification which rises from the cliff face and affords visitors breathtaking views over the sea and Snowdonia.
Fairbourne is a seaside village and is situated on the opposite side of the Mawddach Estuary from Barmouth. Backed by the Snowdonia National Park, it has a two mile stretch of beach with golden sand from mid-tide level in front of steep pebble banks. The Fairbourne Miniature Railway has conveyed visitors for more than 100 years on its 2 mile long route alongside the beach to Penrhyn Point where there is a small ferry across the Mawddach to Barmouth.

The Fairbourne Railway has been running from Fairbourne village to the mouth of the Mawddach Estuary, connecting with the ferry to Barmouth for over 100 years.

The Centre for Alternative Technology is an eco-centre dedicated to demonstrating and teaching sustainable development. There are plenty of spaces to explore and a spacious cafe.
Zip World Blaenau Ffestiniog is home to Titan 2- a 1km long 4 person zip line. The Slate Caverns are also home to Bounce Below and Zip World Caverns and newly opened Underground Golf.
Portmeirion is an enchanting Italianate style village. It was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the style of an Italian village, and is now owned by a charitable trust.
